The welfare of the animals and the land is deeply important to us

We have a close working relationship with our stock, day in and day out. We do not farm intensively. We give our animals the highest levels of welfare-friendly husbandry, avoiding stress.

Sympathetic treatment

Nor are the animals sent to market (a stressful experience in itself) and loaded, along with others totally strange to them onto a transporter for a long drive to a distant abattoir. We take the animals ourselves to a local, carefully selected abattoir where we know the stock will be handled sympathetically.

"Organic" philosophy

While not labeled"organic", you can see that the philosophy behind how it is produced is much the same. We avoid unnecessary and harmful chemicals and drugs. This gives you, the consumer, absolute reassurance about both the natural goodness of the meat and the wellbeing of the stock from birth to market.

Traceability

The meat you buy from us comes from animals born and raised at Riddings Park Farm. As necessary we buy in breeding stock from other producers who are also committed to preserving rare & traditional breeds, and to upholding high standards of animal husbandry.

Preservation

We are dedicated to preserving rare and traditional breeds. Your support is vital to that cause. Eating traditional and rare breed meats is the only economically viable way that these breeds will survive. If not reared for the table they will become extinct.

Quality and taste

Quality meat is produced by allowing animals to mature at a natural pace, on grass, without hurrying the process or feeding artificial growth promoters.

We produce meat for superior taste - a taste that can't be found in supermarkets. And our bacon, hams, sausages, burgers and pies are hand made to traditional recipes.

We need you to keep coming back again and again. You will only do that if the product is high quality and good value. Dealing direct with the producer means there can be no excuses for less than the best, so you can be assured of quality and taste every time.

Environmentally friendly - keeping "food miles" to a minimum

Not only do the animals not travel far but our meat, sausages and pies don't end up traveling back and forth across the country to the transit depots of national retailers. Everything is done locally, so your purchases directly benefit the local economy and wasteful food miles are almost eliminated.
