Now you can enjoy food like it used to taste
Meat from Britain's rare and traditional breeds is something very
special. Raised on our own small farm in non-intensive conditions, the
meat retains all the old-fashioned virtues of succulence, tenderness
and full
flavour.
Because they are raised naturally and mature more slowly, most rare
breeds have much better eating qualities than most meat from the mainstream
market. Also, the meat from each breed has its own characteristic taste
and texture, which may even alter slightly through the seasons.
Succulent joints & cuts, stunning sausages & burgers, heavenly home-made
pies and probably the best bacon you have tasted for years
Pork that is sumptuous and delicious and makes
proper crackling. There
is a little more fat than in commercial pork - that's where the tenderness
and succulence comes from.
Bacon and gammon that is full of flavour
not full of white liquid! Once you have tried our dry-cured bacon - smoked
or natural - there's no going back to supermarket bacon. We cut it a
little thicker too!
Sausages made from quality cuts of our Gloucester Old
Spots pork we consider amongst the finest eating pleasures. And our
customers think so too! Don't prick the skins. The natural casings retain
the juices and all the flavour.
Home-made pies baked to our traditional family recipes
using quality local ingredients and prime cuts of our own traditional
and rare breed meat. Steak & stilton and traditional pork pies are
amongst our customers favourites.
Beef from our Dexter cattle is in a class apart, as
anyone who has tried it will testify. Gently marbled with fat and full
of flavour it is sweet and succulent. Brilliant as a traditional roast,
excellent as steaks and great in our pies!
Lamb from our
primitive breeds such as the Soay, Portland & Shetland
has a dense texture dark colour. Most people, when they first try it,
cannot believe its sumptuous melt-in-the-mouth full flavour.
And grass-fed traditional & rare breed meat is better for you
Don't take our word for it - at Bristol University researchers
have established that grass-fed lamb contains Omega-3
polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are vital to wellbeing and often
lacking in the British diet.
Omega-3 fatty acids are important for development and
growth and essential to brain and vision development during the final
three months of pregnancy.
